(Term Ending in 2012) Isabel Choi is an Assistant Professor and Director at the University of San Francisco School of Law. Isabel manages the law school's civil, criminal, and judicial externship programs and teaches their corresponding courses, which focus on practical litigation and professional development skills. In private practice, she has litigated antitrust, public agency, and insurance coverage cases, and has served as Co-Chair of the Barristers Club Litigation Section.

As a Board member, Isabel played a key role in launching an attorney mentorship program, served on both the Bylaws and Election Committees, and shared tales of her expat adventure from Paris in the AABA newsletter. She also has served as a Co-Chair of the Employment Committee for three years, where she organized networking and career day events resulting in increased attendance and sponsorship during this period. Isabel thanks the AABA community for re-electing her to the Board and looks forward to continuing to serve AABA.


Daisy J. Hung

(Term ending in 2012) Daisy Hung is the Diversity Pipeline Programs Manager at the Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF). She handles a number of BASF’s programs seeking to increase diversity in the legal profession, including the scholarship program, diversity career fair, student mentorship program, judicial mentorship program, minority summer associate receptions, and others.

Prior to joining BASF, Daisy was a public interest attorney assisting low-income Asian and Pacific Islander clients. Daisy was a Staff Attorney at Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach where she directed the Domestic Violence Program, and practiced family law and immigration. She was also a Staff Attorney at Asian Law Alliance where she practiced housing law.

Daisy has been active in AABA since 2006, first as a Social Committee co-chair, and then as a co-chair of both the Social Committee and the Community Services Committee. She also served on the Asian Pacific Bar Association of Silicon Valley’s Board of Directors from 2007-2008. Currently, she as on the Board of Directors for Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach, and is a charter member of the Equity Advisory Committee of the San Francisco Human Rights Commission.

(Term Ending in 2010) Juna Kim joined Cannata Ching & O’Toole as a Senior Associate in August 2009.

Ms. Kim participates in all aspects of civil litigation, and prior to joining Cannata Ching & O’Toole, her practice focused on construction, premises liability, and personal injury matters.

She was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2004, and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California. Ms. Kim obtained her Honours Bachelor of Science, Hon. B. Sc., in Toxicology and The Environment from the University of Toronto in 1998. She received her J.D. degree from Golden Gate University School of Law in 2003. During law school, Ms. Kim served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Saundra Brown Armstrong, U.S. District Court, Northern District of California.

Prior to serving on AABA's Board of Directors, Juna served as Co Chair of AABA's Civil Rights Committee from 2004 - 2008. As Co Chair, she organized events for AABA members on issues such as civil rights, immigration, and employment law. Juna also currently serves as Vice Chair on the California Young Lawyers Association Board of Directors to represent young attorneys in San Francisco and Marin counties. The California Young Lawyers Association is one of the governing bodies of the State Bar of California. She is also a member of the San Francisco Bar Association.

(Term ending in 2012) Eumi Lee is an Associate Clinical Professor of Law at Hastings College of the Law. She teaches the Individual Representation Clinic, which serves low-income clients in housing, benefits, and employment cases, as well as seminars in professional responsibility and national security issues. Before teaching at Hastings, Eumi practiced at Keker & Van Nest and Thelen Reid & Priest, focusing on criminal defense and complex commercial litigation. She also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Warren J. Ferguson, U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, and the Honorable Jerome Turner, U.S. District Court, Western District of Tennessee.

Eumi formerly served as a Co-Chair of the Scholarship, Social, and Community Service Committees, during which time she helped reinstitute the AABA/APILO clinic in San Francisco. Beyond committee duties, Eumi coordinated and drafted the amicus brief on behalf of Fred Korematsu, AABA, BASF, and others in Rumsfeld v. Padilla, 542 U.S. 426 (2004).

(Term ending in 2010) Jason is co-chair of the Securities Enforcement Defense Group at Shartsis Friese LLP and represents clients in civil, regulatory, and criminal matters involving state and federal securities laws. He also counsels clients on compliance and general corporate issues. Prior to private practice, Jason was a Senior Counsel in the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Enforcement. There, he conducted investigations relating to financial fraud, insider trading, broker-dealer misconduct, market manipulation, Ponzi schemes, and bribery of foreign government officials. Jason was also an extern for Associate Justice Joyce Kennard. Jason has served AABA as a former co-chair of the Membership Committee and prior to joining the Board, was a co-chair of the Judiciary Committee. He has also been fortunate to work with the Asian Law Caucus on pro bono matters. Jason is a graduate of UCLA, Santa Clara University School of Law, and Georgetown University Law Center.

(Term Ending in 2010) Reichi's practice is focused primarily on civil litigation, with an emphasis on labor and employment and construction defect cases. Currently, she is Of Counsel at Meyers Nave in their San Francisco office and a Teaching Fellow at Golden Gate University School of Law. Prior to joining the Board in 2007, Reichi served on the Employment Committee for several years, organizing events such as the AABA Summer Law Clerk Reception and Career Day.

Reichi also serves as a Board member of ACCESS, a grassroots organization that utilizes a combination of direct services, community education and policy advocacy to combat barriers to reproductive health care for all women.

(Term ending 2011) Eugene Pak is an attorney in the San Francisco office of DLA Piper LLP (US). Eugene specializes in intellectual property law and litigation. He regularly represents companies in the areas of anti-counterfeiting, trademark and copyright infringement, domain names, unfair competition, trade secret disputes, and general commercial litigation. Eugene also advises clients on selecting, registering, and maintaining their trademarks domestically and abroad, as well as on copyright matters. Eugene began his career at the Legal Aid Society/Employment Law Center where he was the Felix Velarde Munoz Fellow. He is the past president of the Korean American Bar Association of Northern California, and served on the board of the Korean Community Center of the East Bay. He previously co-chaired the AABA Community Services Committee, and currently manages the AABA website and e-mail list. In 2005, Eugene was named one of the 21 "Best Lawyers Under 40" by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA). Eugene received his J.D. from Boalt Hall School of Law and undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan.

(Term ending in 2011) Dave Sohn is an attorney with the law firm of Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C., where he represents management in all aspects of employment litigation and employment related matters. Dave also counsels employers and employees on a variety of issues that arise in the workplace, including wage and hour, sexual harassment, covenants not to compete, and trade secret matters. His cases often involve breaches of contract, business torts, eminent domain, and negligence claims. His experience includes:

  • Obtaining defense verdict, judgment on counterclaim, and sanctions for Fortune 500 client as key member of trial team in $5M+ contract dispute.
  • Coordinating multi-state document collection/review and defeated class certification and temporary restraining order motions in putative $500M+ class action against top 5 U.S. bank.
  • Overseeing e-discovery involving dozens of custodians and millions of pages of documents in defending trademark and stock purchase agreement dispute brought against major insurer.
  • Winning motion to dismiss class action based on media company’s alleged violations of multiple consumer protection laws, avoiding potential public relations nightmare.
  • Negotiating property acquisition agreements and litigating condemnation actions which enabled public utility’s pursuit of a $100M, three-county, 70-mile pipeline project.

  • In addition, Ted has been a deputy practice group leader for his firm's Commercial Litigation Group (West Coast) and the Associate Development Partner for the Oakland office. He has also been active on diversity related efforts as a member of the Hiring Committee in Oakland and the head of the Oakland Summer Associate Program. Ted has also served as AABA's Co-Chair of the Judiciary Committee and is currently a board member of the California Bar Foundation.

    Rhean is a Deputy City Attorney with the City of Daly City. Her practice primarily consists of representing the city in various proceedings and hearings before official bodies and counseling department heads in establishing and recommending changes in policies and procedures to meet legal requirements.

    Prior to joining the City Attorney's office, she operated a solo law practice, and served as In-House Counsel for Lucky Money, Inc., a money transfer services business and a member of the Lucky Group of Companies.

    She is the "go-to" person for all your AABA needs. Rhean is also the President of the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California (FBANC) and has previously served as the group's representative to the Minority Bar Coalition.
