Reasons to Become an AABA Member. AABA is an active and diverse organization. Whether you are interested in civil rights issues, judicial appointments, networking and business development, or community service, AABA has members who share your interests, and sponsors events and activities for all of its diverse members. See the list of AABA Committees. As an AABA member you will be supporting one of the oldest and most active minority bar associations, and its ongoing efforts to serve the community, including its legal services clinic with APILO, its efforts to promote diversity in the judiciary and the profession, and it educational programs. Your profile will be posted in our online Membership Directory and you will receive e-mails about important and interesting events and a link to our Newsletter.
How to Join AABA (New members only). You have the option of joining online or by printing and mailing a paper application with a check.
- To join online: go to the Join AABA page and follow the instructions there. You will receive an e-mail welcoming you to AABA, and providing your username and password. You may then use your username and password to log in and edit your membership profile. (NOTE: To pay online by credit card, you must use Visa or Mastercard).
- To join by paper: or to have us update your membership information, please print out and complete the Membership Application Form (which will open as a Word file), and mail it with your dues (if applicable) to AABA, 575 Market Street, Ste. 2125, San Francisco, CA 94105.

When Does My Membership Expire?
You must renew your membership every twelve months. If you joined in March 2013, your membership renewal is due in March 2014, except for law students whose membership is for the entire period they are in law school. To find out when your current membership expires, enter your user name and password in the Member Login page. If you do not remember your user name and password, enter your email address where indicated on the Member Login page, and they will be e-mailed to you.
AABA is a 501(c)(6) tax-exempt organization. Contributions or gifts to AABA are not tax deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. However, membership dues may be tax deductible as ordinary and necessary business expenses subject to the following restriction: the non-deductible percentage of these dues for lobbying is 1%. This portion of your dues is not deductible for federal income tax purposes.
