The San Francisco office of Bullivant Houser is seeking an attorney to join our Insurance Law Group.  This position includes all phases of litigation, including case management, motion practice, discovery, arbitrations, appraisals and trials.  It also involves non-litigated insurance coverage work including research, taking EUOs, writing opinion letters and advising insurers on their obligations with respect to claims and claim-handling.  Experience practicing in insurance law is preferred, but we will consider excellent candidates with other qualifications.  This is an exciting opportunity to work with a group of accomplished lawyers and become part of our nationally-recognized coverage team.

Bullivant cares about our people and we are dedicated to the long-term professional development of our attorneys. Working with us means that you will enjoy a respectful environment that celebrates diverse backgrounds and experiences. We strongly believe our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion strengthens our ability to serve our clients, enhances our culture and supports our communities in which we live and work.

While you would join our firm working fully remotely while shelter-in-place orders remain in effect, we would accommodate continuing to work from home on a part-time basis after our physical office reopens. Our goal is to ensure your onboarding experience is seamless and that you will be able to collaborate with colleagues quickly and easily while working from home.

We are looking for forward-thinking professionals who are committed to helping us meet our clients' challenging legal issues.  Our ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

    • An exceptional academic record, along with excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to develop creative legal strategies
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Demonstrated trial experience and/or trial preparation experience
    • Possess strong organizational and time management skills with the proven ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment
    • Optimistic outlook that thrives in a dynamic work setting
    • Eager to assume responsibility
    • Values diversity and teamwork
    • Must be admitted to practice in California.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, resume, law school transcript, and a 5-7 page writing sample to carol.oconnell@bullivant.com.

Bullivant Houser Bailey is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity in the workplace. We encourage all qualified individuals to apply.
