    City of Oakland - Deputy City Attorney III / Real Estate, Housing & Economic Development & Redevelopment

    Short Job / Company Description:

    The City Attorney’s Office seeks a seasoned real estate and community development attorney with significant expertise in affordable housing development and finance, development and/or transactional aspects of general real estate, and secured finance work to fill the position of Deputy City Attorney III or IV, depending on experience. Expertise in land use, redevelopment, economic development, municipal law, and environmental law is a plus.

    Job Title:

    City of Oakland - Deputy City Attorney III - IV General Government - General Municipal Law and Public Contracting

    The Office of the City Attorney seeks an attorney with experience in the practice of municipal law for a Deputy City Attorney III or IV position in the General Government & Finance Unit in the Advisory Division of the City Attorney’s Office. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the practice of municipal law in more than one of the following areas: public bidding and contracting, federal, state or local grant funding, social equity contracting programs, open meeting laws, parliamentary procedure, conflict of interest, public records law and constitutional law.  In addition, some litigation experience would be useful. Experience serving as counsel to legislative bodies, boards and commissions, advising administrative hearing officers and boards, or reviewing and revising administrative hearing decisions is a plus.

    Job Title:

    City of Oakland - Deputy City Attorney III / IV General and Complex Litigation

    The Office of the City Attorney seeks a well-qualified individual for a Deputy City Attorney III or IV position in the General and Complex Litigation Division of the Office of the City Attorney. Significant litigation experience including writ and appellate experience is desirable for this position. The majority of lawsuits against the City involve tort cases and this position will handle a significant menu of such cases as well as other cases, including but not limited to breach of contract, inverse condemnation, and civil rights. The City Attorney has sole and absolute discretion to assign the selected attorney to new, additional or different duties or practice areas in litigation, administrative proceedings or transactional work.
