The primary responsibility for this position is to advise campuses and the Office of the President on a broad range of issues related to disability and accessibility (with the exception of issues related to disability in the employment context, which are handled by other lawyers). This position will advise on issues related to programmatic access and accommodations for students (dining, recreation, housing, academic, etc.), online and electronic accessibility, physical accessibility, communications access (including ASL and captioning services), transportation access, and emergency planning. The role will include working with clients across all of UC’s locations to advise both on specific matters/questions as well as broader policy‐based concerns in the areas above, with a focus not only on complying with applicable laws and regulations but also promoting and enhancing a culture of accessibility. The role will also include coordinating the response to disability‐related investigations by regulators such as the Department of Justice and the Department of Education Office for Civil Rights.
