    POSITION SUMMARY

    BART’s Office of the General Counsel is hiring an Attorney I, II, or III. This position will be responsible for a variety of assignments within the scope of the Attorney I, Attorney II, or Attorney III classification. The work for the Attorney I/II/III position will primarily focus on, but not be limited to, representing the District in labor arbitrations, and providing advice to labor relations professionals; providing advice on public contracting and procurements; reviewing and advising on California Public Records Act requests; and appearing in court hearings on matters such as Pitchess motions and restraining orders. Additional areas of work may include real estate, land use, energy and utilities, environmental law, intellectual property, constitutional law, litigation, inter-agency agreements, and other matters handled by in-house public agency counsel.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school required. Experience: Attorney I: No prior legal experience required Attorney II: Three (3) years of (full-time) professional verifiable experience as an attorney engaged in the practice of civil law or closely related experience. Public sector experience preferred. Attorney III: The equivalent of seven (7) years of full-time professional verifiable experience as an attorney engaged in the practice of civil law or a closely related experience. Public sector experience preferred. License or Certificate: Current active membership in the California State Bar
