Staff Attorney or Senior Staff Attorney
Transgender Law Center is seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and motivated lawyer to join us as a Staff Attorney or Senior Staff Attorney and work at the heart of a movement of transgender and gender nonconforming people. The position will focus on litigating high-impact cases involving cutting-edge constitutional law and other novel theories, as well as helping advance the organization’s mission through direct legal services, policy advocacy, and public education. The Staff Attorney or Senior Staff Attorney will be responsible for leading work on Transgender Law Center’s legal services and impact litigation docket, including work within the Detention Project and TLC@SONG. For the Senior Staff Attorney, the work will also include supervising the work of designated members of the legal team.

TIDE Bilingual Immigration Staff Attorney
TLC’s Trans Immigrant Defense Effort (TIDE) was created as an emergency response to the current administration. That effort involves organizing support for local transgender and gender nonconforming (TGNC) immigrants, legal and policy advocacy, and direct pro bono legal assistance for TGNC immigrants. One critical element of the project is ensuring high quality, culturally appropriate representation for TGNC immigrants in their immigration petitions and immigration court proceedings.

Legal Service Project Staff Attorney (CA Bar Foundation Legal Fellowship)
The Legal Services Project Staff Attorney, a position made possible by the California Bar Foundation, will provide direct legal services to transgender and gender nonconforming (TGNC) people. TLC’s Legal Service Project provides legal information, pro bono legal services, and know-your-rights training and materials, and includes the Legal Information Helpline, TIDE (Trans Immigrant Defense Effort), and the Detention Project’s volunteer-staffed prison mail project.
The Legal Services Project Staff Attorney will be responsible for providing direct legal services primarily to transgender and gender nonconforming clients in California. This position is funded for one year.
