    The Office of General Counsel at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation is hiring for a Counsel position. With over 50 years of grantmaking history, the Packard Foundation is a private foundation located in Los Altos focused on funding domestic and international organizations working on issues within conservation and science, population and reproductive health, and children, families and communities. The Packard Foundation's endowment is worth around $8B. The organization distributes around $350M annually through over 800 grants.

    The Office of General Counsel oversees all legal work for the Packard Foundation, advises the Board and staff, supports grantmaking and other activities, and ensures compliance with tax laws governing private foundations.

    The Counsel position supports the work of the Office of the General Counsel and assists in grantmaking, operations, governance issues, and limited tax work. The position will be responsible for providing legal representation to the Packard Foundation and for supporting staff by providing counsel on a variety of topics. The position includes ongoing work as well as short and long-term projects such as preparing materials for Board meetings, performing research and analysis of tax and grantmaking issues, analyzing policy development, providing documentation, and designing and delivering training.
