    The City Attorney's Office is seeking to add a mid-level staff attorney to our team. The attorney will be hired at the Deputy City Attorney level.
     
    The attorney will be assigned general municipal advice and transaction work with a focus on supporting the human resources department, transportation division and utilities department. Other areas may also be assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications
    • Juris Doctorate
    • Three or more years of legal experience, with at least one year serving public entities.
    • Member in good standing with the California Bar.
    Ideal Candidate

    The ideal applicant has experience advising cities, either in-house or at a firm, and has substantive knowledge and practice experience in one or more of the following key areas: human resources/labor/employment law, transportation planning, public works construction, and public utilities (gas, electric, water, wastewater, and fiber). Applicants should be familiar with municipal ethics laws, open meeting and public records requirements, and due process requirements. Applicants must have strong oral and written communication skills, be practical problem solvers, and work effectively as part of a team.
