    Job Description and Duties

The Health Quality Enforcement Section (HQE) handles a broad range of administrative, civil and general legal matters on behalf  of a number of state licensing agencies in actions involving licensed health care professionals, including physicians and surgeons, psychologists, respiratory care practitioners, and others.  This is a fast-paced section, and Deputies handle a rigorous caseload.

HQE Deputies handle administrative licensing discipline cases before state licensing boards, including initial case assessment, drafting of accusations and other pleadings, case settlements, and administrative hearings before the Office of Administrative Hearings. Deputies handle writs of mandate in the superior courts, as well as occasional appeals in the courts of appeal and emergency injunctive proceedings involving dangerous physicians, psychologists, podiatrists, and other health care providers.  HQE Deputies enforce investigative subpoenas in the superior courts, and represent client agencies and employees in civil litigation involving constitutional and other issues in state and federal courts. HQE Deputies also perform legislative analyses on behalf of the Attorney General and client agencies, and serve as liaisons to client agencies.  Deputies are responsible for maintaining up-to-date  case information in the ProLaw case management system.  Travel within the State may be required.
