Samsung US IP Center (Silicon Valley), located in Mountain View, California, handles various IP matters including patent acquisition, anti-counterfeit/trademark enforcement, patent licensing, patent litigation and IP policy/outreach.  Our talented attorneys and professionals have worked on some of the largest and most complex patent litigation, licensing and acquisition matters. 

Position Summary:

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, the world’s largest electronics company, seeks a talented patent litigator to manage its patent infringement matters at its Mountain View, California, location.          

 Responsibilities Include:

• Manage outside counsel in patent, along with other intellectual property, litigation matters
• Coordinate internal document collection and production
• Oversee the preparation of witnesses for depositions, hearings and trial
• Come up with winning litigation strategies and tactics
• Assist in drafting and reviewing briefs, motions and court pleadings
• Manage litigation costs, including e-discovery and outside counsel fees
• Advise management and internal teams on patent law related issues

 Experience Requirements:

• Juris Doctor with 5 or more years of patent litigation experience
• Proven written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on conflict resolution
• Broad range of patent litigation experience, including taking and defending depositions, arguing dispositive motions, jury trial/bench trial, arbitration and mediation, and e-discovery
• Demonstrated ability to formulate successful, complex pre-litigation and litigation strategies
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team across
• countries, regions and business units, including the ability to be diplomatic and culturally sensitive
• Background in engineering a plus
• USPTO admission a plus
• Ability to converse in Korean a plus
