    Position: We are seeking an Attorney for our Legal Advice Line which is located in our office in downtown Oakland, California. We are interested in candidates who are culturally competent and have a strong commitment to public interest and social justice advocacy. This person will be part of a team which provides counsel and advice to eligible clients primarily in the areas of housing, family law/domestic violence, consumer and public benefits, and the transition from welfare to employment. Opportunities for extended representation to eligible clients within the areas of housing, family law/domestic violence, consumer and public benefits will be available.

    Core Competencies: 
    •            Membership with the California State Bar or law school graduate awaiting Bar results

    •            Demonstrated commitment to public interest law and social justice advocacy;

    •            Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;

    •            Strong organizational and computer skills;

    •            Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team;

    •            Ability to work in a fast paced, ever changing and high pressure environment;

    •            Bilingual ability in Spanish; 

    •            Due to the nature of this position, a background check and fingerprinting is required (live scan).

    Compensation and Benefits: Compensation is based on a competitive public interest salary scale.
