    DEPUTY PORT ATTORNEY IV

    Salary:  $16,364 - $20,271 / Month

    We are currently recruiting for the position of Deputy Port Attorney IV to provide expert legal counsel for the Port on a wide variety of complex legal matters, including complex real estate transactions and litigation, and function as a project manager on selected legal projects. The incumbent performs professional work and exercises a considerable amount of independent judgment and initiative in representing his or her assigned internal clients and may be assigned the most complex cases as special projects. The responsibilities of the Deputy Port Attorney IV may differ depending on the position’s primary area of responsibility, and the incumbent may be assigned or reassigned to any of the specialty areas within the Port Attorney’s office. 

    The primary areas of responsibility for this position may be focused on, but will not be limited to: environmental (hazardous materials) compliance, remediation advice and cost recovery litigation; insurance advice and litigation; commercial real estate transactions, including secured transactions; all forms of utilities, including the establishment of rates and charges/cost of service; and Port transparency (open meeting laws, public records).

    The minimum requirements include graduation from an accredited college or university (juris doctorate a plus), seven years of professional work as an attorney with experience in real estate law, and a current member of the California State Bar Association. Must pass the State of California Bar Examination and be licensed to practice law in all California State Courts, Federal District Courts in California, Courts of Appeal in California and the District of Columbia.
